Read Read Read

Get off your phone. Read. That's really it. That's the whole message today.

Not a productivity hack. Not a New Year's resolution. Not a 30-day challenge or a reading tracker or a Goodreads goal. Just: put the phone down, pick up a book, and if you have kids, read with them while they still want you to.

I know that sounds simple. I know your life is complicated and your evenings are short and your kids have homework and you have emails and the couch is right there and Netflix knows exactly what you want to watch next.

I'm not saying it's easy. I'm saying it's worth it.

There is something that happens in a house where books are read aloud. The air changes. The pace changes. Kids who won't sit still for anything will sit still for a story. Teenagers who have stopped talking to you will laugh at the same joke. You will find yourself in the middle of a chapter thinking: I didn't know we needed this.

You didn't. And then you did.

So tonight, or this weekend, or whenever you find a pocket of time — read. Read to yourself. Read to your kids. Read something you loved as a child and watch their faces when they love it too.

That's the whole message. Read read read.
